How a puncture fix goes on the day

  1. We find the leak

    We look at the tyre and tube to see what caused the flat, whether that is a thorn, a pinch or a worn patch, so it does not happen again.

  2. Wheel comes off

    The wheel is removed and the tube taken out. We check the inside of the tyre and the rim for anything sharp before any new part goes in.

  3. Tube mended or swapped

    We repair the tube or fit a new one, seat the tyre properly and pump it up, so it sits straight and holds air.

  4. Refit and test

    The wheel goes back on, tight and true. We check the brakes still clear the rim and the bike rolls as it should before we hand it back.
